How to Go About Finding the Perfect Pair of Drumsticks for You to Practice With

When it comes to finding the right drumsticks, there is a lot to consider in terms of quality and specific design, as well as the brand you want to focus on. Choosing the right drumsticks, however, is not that straightforward, and it can bring about a significant number of difficulties, depending on your specific preference. Your best bet is to go to a neighborhood drum store and ask experts for their advice on what drumsticks will work best for you.

The first thing you need to do is choose the right wood. Now, drumsticks can be made from a number of different types of wood, including oak, maple, hickory and laminated birch. Each type of wood has its own qualities – hickory being more flexible and impact—resilient, oak being able to transmit vibrations more effectively due to its denser quality, and maple being lighter and allowing for a greater diameter feel.

Next, you also have to choose the shape of the tip. It can be anything from an acorn or bullet-shape, to ball or oval tips. What you have to look for here is a tip that creates the right balance between damper and brighter tones.

Finally, the thickness of the drumsticks will change their sound and make them sound either deeper (for thicker sticks) or brighter (for thinner ones). If you want the most generic and overall versatile size, consider a 5A set of drumsticks for best results.
