How to Tell If You’re Playing A Musical Instrument the Right Way

How to Tell If You’re Playing A Musical Instrument the Right Way

Teaching yourself to play a musical instrument is probably the most difficult way – even though you have the benefit that you can learn to play at your own pace, the lack of control makes the process difficult. If you have been learning to play the drums on a specialized drum kit or instrument on your own and you think you can do with some feedback, here are some tips for you:

  • -Record yourself – you might feel embarrassed to listen to your own playing in the beginning, but recording your playing is actually among the most efficient ways to get objective feedback – from yourself. Record your play, listen to it over and over again and try to compare it to the original version that you used for inspiration, you will learn a lot about your own style and about your mistakes as well;
  • -Read theory about posture and playing techniques – books are a great source of information about how to stand or sit correctly while playing, about how the instrument makes sound, about correct playing and about different playing styles, so books can help you identify your mistakes and correct them, too;
  • -Use online tutorials – with a little bit of self-criticism, you will be able to tell whether you are playing the instrument right.
