Most people who love music and have ever heard a fascinating drum solo has dreamed of becoming a proficient drummer, of hitting the percussion instrument with the right strength and in the right order to create the unique atmosphere that only a great drummer can create. However, getting started is much harder, especially when the future drummer is faced with the overwhelming task of getting the very drum kit, so here are some tips to make the process easier:

  • -Decide on the configuration – the two most common drum kit configurations are five-piece sets, composed of a snare drum, a bass drum, a high a mid and a low tom and seven-piece set-ups that add two cymbals;

  • -Decide whether and where you want to buy your drums – you can buy your set online or in a traditional, brick-and-mortar instrument store. Online instrument stores usually have lower prices, but if you are a beginner, the best way to avoid the mistake of getting a set that is not the right size or not comfortable for you is to go to the nearby store, try a couple of sets, then to buy them online. You can also rent or lease your first drum kit, that way you will not have to make a substantial investment before you are sure about the perfect kit configuration.
